Toni was five years old when her parents were killed in a car crash. She was placed inside a convent until seventeen. Leading a naïve and innocent life, Toni meets Alison who shows her the seedy side of life, involving drugs and homosexual relationships—Toni embraces this hedonistic lifestyle.
In her first year at the college in Birmingham, she discovers a lump on her breast and is referred to Aston Hospital where she encounters her consultant, Dr. Theo Xavier. After successful exam results, she goes to London for the weekend but encounters a terrible accident. Toni is left paralysed and permanently in a wheelchair. She is on the verge of suicide, not because of her injuries but the loss of her lover. To add to her problems, Toni has to undergo a serious operation. Later, Toni realizes that Mr. Xavier and his wife, Susannah, are not the perfect hosts.
The tale takes a twist, when, after some years during which Toni and Mr. Xavier lose contact, he appears on the scene causing an inconceivable and volatile change in her life. Chaos shrouds her life, but the worse is yet to come.

Toni, a professor in physics and microbiology has been kidnapped from her home in Herefordshire and suffers horrendous injuries due to the torture and beatings she receives from her kidnappers. Having experienced the loss of her own parents at the age of five, due to a major car crash, Toni still goes on to make something of her life and doesn’t let this tragedy affect her. She later realises that she must look into the death of her parents’ crash following a suspicious comment put forward to her during the interrogation.
Toni’s first experience of true love is with Theo Xavier, who is an eminent surgeon consultant, and she learns of his peculiar sexual traits during her time with him as his lover. Toni marries a Professor Chris Alexander on the rebound when her first love (Theo) disappears whilst on a fluke visit to Athens, in Greece.
Toni is later reunited with Theo after he had thrown her out of the family home, and the twins were instructed not to see Toni. Fate reveals a nasty turn as the doubt of the DNA of the twins proved an interesting outcome . . .
